Silly Recycling Question? I have recently decided to be more environmentally concious. My town picks up recycling in the blue container on the same days as regular trash. Can I put plastics and glass into the container or do I need to seperate into two containers? I know that paper is to be bundled seperately but my village%26#039;s website doesn%26#039;t mention anything about glass and plastic and they only provide one recycling container.

We also have blue bin recycling. Normally, you don%26#039;t need to separate anything, because the whole bin gets dumped into the same truck and at the recycling center they sort it all by hand. I%26#039;m impressed they take glass- it could break and most blue bin projects don%26#039;t accept it. I%26#039;d double check that. Our blue bins have rudimentary instructions on the lid. Try calling your sanitation department for guidelines that apply strictly to your locale. Good luck!

  • if is like the ones we have in Dallas we put the glass and plastic in the same one and they separate it later.
  • Sounds like the same setup we have. Just toss it all in the same one, they separate it later at the recycling place.
  • to find a recycling center or info on recycling go to earth911.org they have a lot of great info
  • glass and plastics and tin cans go together.
