1. Make a building more energy efficient by absorbing sunlight which would have heated up the building and also insulating from cold in the winter.
2. Keeps water from the roof which deteriorates most roofing materials reducing or eliminating the need to change roofing material. Generally when tearing off a roof, the materials torn off go into a landfill

they match grren houses...they turn amber in the fall to match the folage...they hold moisture...they kill the trees that they came from...i dont see anything good about them...except maybe cheaper than shingles...
