What is Life?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

What is life? Boy, what a question. Is actually kind of hard to answer this question. But here I go!!! I think that every person has a different view on it. Life is what we ourselves make of it. Life is a breath of fresh air at times or something we don%26#039;t understand and would like to through it away. life is our beginning. We come into this world by our mothers. Our parents always have a plan for us. What they would like us to be. Life is what we make of it. It can be unpleasant or filled with happiness and love. Life is a hard thing to define. There%26#039;s so many people with so many different beliefs and expections on what life really is. Life is Life and we were given it. We get our chance to live it. Yes, because I%26#039;m alive and living life no matter how rough it gets. Hopefully life will give me, all of us more good then bad. 29% 2 Votes

  • Nobel laureate Erwin Shrödinger%26#039;s What is Life? is one of the great science classics of the twentieth century. A distinguished physicist%26#039;s exploration of the question which lies at the heart of biology, it was written for the layman, but proved one of the spurs to the birth of molecular biology and the subsequent discovery of the structure of DNA. The philosopher Karl Popper hailed it as a %26#039;beautiful and important book%26#039;. It appears here together with Mind and Matter, his essay investigating a relationship which has eluded and puzzled philosophers since the earliest times. Brought together with these two classics are Shrödinger%26#039;s autobiographical sketches, published and translated here for the first time, which offer a fascinating fragmentary account of his life as a background to his scientific writings.

%26#039;This book is a gem with many facets.., one can read it in a few hours; one will not forget it in a lifetime.%26#039; Scientific American

%26#039;Erwin Shrödinger, iconoclastic physicist, stood at the pivotal point of history when physics was the midwife of the new science of molecular biology. In these little books he set down, clearly and concisely, most of the great conceptual issues that confront the scientist who would attempt to unravel the mysteries of life. This combined volume should be compulsory reading for all students who are seriously concerned with truly deep issues of science.%26#039; Paul Davies

  • What a question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would rather give you and scientific answer.

Life is a condition that distinguishes organisms from non-living objects, such as non-life, and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism and reproduction. Some living things can communicate and many can adapt to their environment through changes originating internally. A physical characteristic of life is that it feeds on negative entropy.

I hope my answer has satisfied you. If so do select it as the best answer.

  • Interestingly Fire contains all the properties normally prescribed to life..

Eating/Consuming....it needs a fuel to survive
Breathing...it needs gas (oxygen) to survive
Ability to reproduce.... fire can jump to somewhere else, through embers or other methods..and create another fire.
    Excrete.....it leaves a waste product..(ash or smoke) 0% 0 Votes
