Usually we look for bottle re-use before we look for recyclers. If we have no reuse facility locally (as in no beer bottler) we do not go for recycling either. Why? Well, recycling glass is about as efficient as making new glass from sand. Shipping bottles any long distance for recycling lowers recycling efficiency below that for making new from sand.
The purpose of recycling is to get bottles out of land fill and avoid using up good glass-making sand.
To get a reuse facility one has to build a bottler locally, even if one has to ship beer in, in bulk. 80% 4 Votes
