Why do people bother buying organic clothing if it%26#039;s from Wal-Mart? The organic clothing they%26#039;re selling is just as bad as the other clothing. It all comes from other countries where it%26#039;s made in sweatshops. The people in the sweatshops make change for a days work. That%26#039;s how Wal-Mart and other stores like Wal-Mart keep their prices low. I just don%26#039;t understand how people can justify shopping there.

What I%26#039;m saying is not that Wal-Mart should go elsewhere. What I%26#039;m saying is that if Wal-Mart, a billion dollar company, is going to sell clothing, toys, etc why not pay the people that are making them billions of dollars and need the money a decent amount of money?? Wal-Mart isn%26#039;t hard up for cash, so why don%26#039;t they do what%26#039;s right and not just supply those people with jobs but supply them with the money they deserve?

Regardless of what they sell, Walmart is still a huge catalyst in the process of ecological and economic destruction. People see this, and they know people see this, so they engage in %26quot;greenwashing%26quot;, an environmental marketing campaign, to make them look better.

Like slapping a save the whales bumper sticker on a Hummer.

If walmart really wanted to help, they would source their products locally, from factories that abide by environmental regulations, and that pay their workers a living wage. However, if they did that, they couldn%26#039;t sell things for as mindbogglingly cheep as they do.

I completely agree with you. Wal-Mart isn%26#039;t looking out for anyone but themselves.

  • If you feel that %26quot; organic %26quot; clothing is somehow beneficial, then why would you care where and by whom it was made?

If you want to have a store that sells organic clothing and pays decent wages to the manufacturers and still think it can be done profitably and actually sell some clothing I would suggest you open your own store where you can have complete control over the process and ease your concience.

Your money, your risk, your decision to make, your economic loss, affecting your own life.

Otherwise just don%26#039;t shop there ( freedom of choice ), I choose lower prices.
  • Walmart is actually quite %26quot;green%26quot; from certain perspectives. For a large and populous country like ours, it is more efficient to have large %26quot;all purpose%26quot; stores rather than billions of mom and pop stores.

Having fewer stores equals: less buildings constructed, less electricity used to heat and cool these buildings, less driving in between the many different stores by customers and suppliers. (basically, less fossil fuels are used)

Having a centralized store is beneficial to both the environment and our economy (cheaper goods).

I am not really pro-Walmart, but I do think the %26quot;big store%26quot; concept is necessary right now.
  • Yea, it%26#039;s better that Wal-Mart take their business else where and let these poor people starve instead of giving them work.

Poor people just take up resources, right?

The liberal mind is a twisted mind. I%26#039;m glad to see these people working and being able to feed and take care of themselves. I%26#039;ll never understand why liberals think self sufficient people are bad.
  • People buy organic clothing to feel good about themselves. Most people are wrapped up in their own little world, and they have low self-esteem, so they recycle and buy organic things to feel good about themselves.
  • Not to mention the fact that its all made in China, the biggest producer of Greenhouse gases on the planet.
  • Because people like helping commies in china. are you boycotting the 08 Olympics?
  • Personally, I have not willingly set foot in a Wal-Mart in years. I used to work for a company who was a supplier for them, and their business practices are just abhorable. They tell their suppliers( the actual manufacturers of the products) what they will pay for it and if the manufacturers don%26#039;t agree, Wal-Mart will simply cancel their contracts. Walmart also will tell you who you can sell to. If you sell specialty products to them, you cannot also sell to Target or K-Mart.

There are also the instances of Walmart deliberately undercutting prices from Mom and Pop stores until they run them out of business, then they raise their own prices. They will clear cut wildlife areas to build a Superstore and 10 acre parking lot. They will force city councils to install traffic lights disrupting the traffic flow through the middle of town by threatening to leave town if they don%26#039;t.

    The list goes on.

I have found much much better prices shopping at dollar stores and off of clearance racks that I ever did when I shopped at Walmart.

Not to mention that you will have an exceedingly hard time finding anything made in the USA in one of their stores.
