Some stores, chose not to use biodegradeable bags because store officials were told the bags cannot be mixed with other plastic bags for recycling.
But biodegradable bags are still petroleum-based, and while they do break down into smaller particles, chemicals eventually show up in the food chain and our bodies, according to Susan Hubbard, CEO of Eureka Recycling in Minneapolis. And it%26#039;s unclear whether biodegradable bags can be recycled. 0% 0 Votes -
Most stores dont use compostable bags because they are very expensive when compared to conventional plastic or paper bags. somewhere in the future when demand increase it will be cheap enough for stores to finally use them. I think it would be a great idea u use reusable containers to get rid of your food waste instead for now because they are more reliable and no new resources was used up each time u dump your waste with the same container so even if stores will begin to use compostable plastics, reusables is still the way to go.

It%26#039;s a very good question, they should be! But in the mean time do you have a compost bin? If so put scraps in there and use the plastic for craft, leftovers etc. If not put the scraps in a reusable container and give them to someone who has a compost bin or chickens. Make sure all meat goes into the normal bin though! Hope it helps!
