Writing a letter to my local park? How would I go about writing a letter to my local park about getting recycling bins? Could anyone give me some tips as to what I should say? I just need some ideas on what to put in it and how to get started.

First, I am so pleased that you are doing this! :D
To get started, you should try to figure out someone who you can address it to. If you can%26#039;t find anyone, just put %26quot;To Whom It May Concern.%26quot;
Some ideas about what you could write about:
- putting out recycle bins would encourage people to recycle
- people who wish to recycle their bottles,cans, etc. have no way to do it when they are at the park
- the environment is all of our responsibilities, and the park should play an active role in trying to get people to recycle
I hope that gets you started! Find somewhere to mail it to (a Parks and Rec place, maybe?), and make sure you sign it and date it!

Good luck and the environment thanks you!

  • First of all, you need to find out 1) who is responsible for the general well being of your park. Is it local (city, county, state?) or is it a national concern taken care of by the agriculture department?
    2) who is responsible for the trash pickup (for example does a ranger go around, collect all the cans and then take it to a genral pick up area?)
    3) Does your park have someone that seperates, and does the recycling at a location that you don%26#039;t see.

    I would actually start with talking with the rangers or custodians at the park, then talk to a person in the know at the agency that controls the upkeep of your park. Find out what is already in the works, and what is not, and why. Then you can address a letter or letters to the various parties involved in making the trash and recycling choices. Remember that just one individual doesn%26#039;t make the choice, and you may be in for a long fight to help your local park go green.
  • Find out what agency is responsible for the park and send it to them. Try to find a specific person, either the head of the agency or the head of maintenance, so it doesn%26#039;t just get %26quot;filed%26quot;.

    Encourage your neighbors to do the same - even if they just sign a photocopy of your letter. Agencies rarely take action without pressure.

    As for content - analysis, numbers, convenience, and money talk.
  • In addition to the letter hang out at the park and get some signatures. The park officials may show more interest if they see people who use the park have an interest in recyling
  • do not wright type. do not print email it. ok dear (whatever town you live in) there should be....
