Our supplies of non-renewable energy sources are not drastically running out, but the amounts are getting smaller as each day passes. What is the problem is overpopulation. As an engineering student, I am all about numbers, but I get really irritated when someone mentions the %26quot;fact%26quot; that the entire world%26#039;s population can fit in the state of Rhode Island. Technically that is true, however, it%26#039;s not realistic. If that were truly to happen, there would be barely any room for anyone to stretch their limbs! Also, it%26#039;s true that a lot of the world is uninhabited, but there%26#039;s a reason why people don%26#039;t live on Antarctica. It can%26#039;t support much forms of life!With an increasing population, our supplies of new-renewable resources will eventually reach very low levels unless we can find an alternative source of energy that is hopefully more environmetally friendly.
And, of course wars can be sparked over resources.

YES we will inevitably run out of gas, oil and coal.
Oil wells dry up every day, and so do gas fields. There are years worth of un-mined coalseams under the UK, but of course they run out when you mine them on an industrial scale.
Yes, the use of fossil fuel undoubtedly affects climate, and few serious scientists refute this notion.
It isn%26#039;t a crisis yet. But oil production has very little spare capacity. There is not much scope to increase production, thus prices are high and set to stay high.
I think the day it runs out is closer than we think. Luckily we do have some plans in place in the UK such as for renewed investment in nuclear energy, which produces almost no gases. We are also lucky to be Europe%26#039;s windiest nation, and to be surrounded by water, so expect to see even more wind farms appear, and tidal power plants in the future.
EDIT - UK - no permission is needed for solar panels or water butts. Check if you need permission for wind turbines, but bear in mind with current technology there is little point having a wind turbine especially in urban areas, they are not effective enough. -
You can find someone to argue both sides of each of your questions. Here is how I look at it. We will eventually run out of oil, I have no idea how long that will take, it depends on how fast we use it. The truth is the cost will continue to go up and the closer we get to the end the faster it will rise. We will know for sure if our pollution affects the weather only if we don%26#039;t reduce it, I hope the Global Warming poeple are wrong, but in case they aren%26#039;t it just seems like a good idea to slow down our emissions.
I look at my choice to go green in 2 ways, I%26#039;m saving money and creating a healthier environment for myself. If it helps the rest of the world great. I%26#039;ve had a Prius for 6 years, and I limit my driving, the gas increase added another $10 to my monthly budget. When we had that salmonella scare with the tomatoes, I was eating salsa, because I know exactly where my tomatoes come from, down the street, not some farm in a land far away.

There is no energy crisis. Oil is getting more expensive because of a combination of increased demand, flat supply, a decreasing dollar, instability in some oil producing countries, and speculators. We have plenty of coal and natural gas to meet our baseline energy requirements.
The entire concept of an energy crisis is made up. If there were a crisis, you would see rationing of energy and much higher prices for electricity. The greens are making it up to entice us to use less energy and to switch to non-hydrocarbon energy sources.
I challenge anyone to give any evidence that there is an energy crisis besides green rhetoric. -
We need to act as though there is an energy crisis, set in motion methods to conserve our energy supplies for future generations, not because we have run out, but to ensure that future generations will not.
If there is a crisis it is that we are acting as though future generations will have no need for energy supplies.
There is enough fossil fuel to allow us to continue acting this way for over 100 years. We could make that 400 years without major inconvenience. A lot of the fuel we can use up is going to cost a lot more. But later shortages will cost us even more.
Current prices are being driven up by the fact that those who own these fuels are realizing that within a moderate time that fuel will be selling for a lot more as we realize the higher cost to get it. But if we do not over use it, we can benefit as well as leaving some for future generations. -

We%26#039;ve already used the easy to get at stuff.
We%26#039;re using it at an increasing rate (the USA still produces oil, but they use a lot more of it than they produce). The developing world%26#039;s usage is climbing exponentially.
What%26#039;s been going on in The Middle East is about oil, Georgia is about an oil pipeline, the scramble for the arctic circle (Russia plants a flag under the sea, USA doesn%26#039;t protect polar bears %26#039;cos it%26#039;ll scupper drilling in the area) is about oil.
It%26#039;s not just cars- imagine a world without plastic.
So, yes. There%26#039;s a storm brewing about energy. -
I dont think there is a energy crisis. i dont think there is becuase the people in charge of the big companies are greedy so they make it up and becuase of that they say there isnt much recourse. its all in the supply and demand. they say there is a low supply but there is alot of demand they can raise their price.
